Self Description
            I believe in individual teaching-learning, even in a group. A student should develop at his own pace, not following a group. Although I focus on all skills in learning English, I do stress the teaching of grammar and writing, which is sadly lacking in schools. In learning languages and mathematics, it is important that the student keeps in touch with the subject continuously, and therefore, regular exercises are required. I spent 4 years at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles pursuing my bachelor's degree in Linguistics. In the 1990's, I spent almost 7 years as an English Language teacher in a rural public school. I left teaching and became a writer, and later an editor for a magazine. I quit my full-time job when I realized that being a teacher was more fulfilling than doing anything else. I have taught in various institutions, and am now lecturing part-time in the University of Malaya.
Proven Track Record
            I started as an English teacher in a rural area. When I joined the school, only one student received A2 in her SPM. I managed to produce 30 A's in the year before I left.
Achievement
           I graduated with a 3.48 CGPA from a very prestigious American university. I also have a Diploma of Education in TESL. I received the Education Ministry's Excellent Teacher Award in 1994. I have a translator's certificate from the Institut Terjemahan Negara (National Translation Institute). I am currently pursuing my Master's.
